Future Plans
The future is bright.
Our mission is to create a community without limitations that offers safety, security, choice, purpose, belonging, friendship, and fulfillment.
Pocket Neighborhoods and Housing Cooperatives
Pocket neighborhoods are thoughtfully designed clusters of neighboring houses or apartments centered around a shared open space — such as a garden courtyard, a pedestrian street, a series of joined backyards, or a reclaimed alley. These spaces foster a clear sense of territory, shared stewardship, and community. Whether situated in urban, suburban, or rural areas, pocket neighborhoods promote connection and safety. Neighbors share a stake in their common ground, creating a watchful environment where strangers are noticed, and children can play freely.
A resident led organization
As parents of individuals with high support needs, we face the difficult reality that our ability to care for our adult children will eventually decline, and they are likely to outlive us by decades. This brings up several pressing questions: Where will they live? Who will take care of them? What happens if their rent increases, or their building is sold or repurposed? Is it fair to burden their siblings with the responsibility of housing? Will they be forced to live far from their limited social circles? The prospect of them spending their lives in low-income rental units or group homes in unwelcoming neighborhoods is far from ideal.
A housing cooperative helps address critical concerns about future living arrangements, financial stability, and caregiving. It provides an alternative to the prospect of loved ones living in low-income rental units or group homes in unwelcoming neighborhoods. Through cooperative ownership, members gain the peace of mind that their loved ones will live in a supportive, inclusive, and stable environment.
